Vince DelMonte, 2005 Canadian Fitness Model champion, went from a 6-foot, 150 pound long distance runner to a 191-pound, well-muscled fitness model not by following the advice in muscle magazines, but by developing his own program. In his program, No Nonsense Muscle Building, DelMonte shares what he discovered and exposes the lies the fitness industry wants you to believe.
The biggest lie is that of the supplements. You only have to take this powder, this pill, drink this drink and you will have the body of your dreams. Totally false, says DelMonte. The fitness magazines are hawking these supplements because, according to DelMonte, they are owned by the supplement companies.
That leads into the next lie. If you follow the advice and workout programs in the magazines, you will see huge muscle growth and an increase in strength. What they fail to tell you, says DelMonte, is that if you exercise too much, your body won’t recover. Your muscles grow during your recovery, and if you don’t recover, not only will you not grow, but you may actually lose muscle.
